THE 13TH INDONESIA-MALAYSIA-THAILAND GROWTH TRIANGLE (IMT-GT) SUMMIT

PUTRAJAYA, 28 OCTOBER 2021 – The Leaders of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand successfully convened for the 13th Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Summit, via a virtual platform today. Chaired by His Excellency Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, Prime Minister of Malaysia, with the attendance of His Excellency Joko Widodo, President of The Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, the 13th IMT-GT Summit was also attended by His Excellency Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN, and His Excellency Mr. Ahmed M. Saeed, Vice President for East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific of Asian Development Bank.

The Leaders are pleased with the summary of achievements reported and commended IMT-GT for the successful execution under the IMT-GT Implementation Blueprint (IB) 2017-2021. As the pandemic has devastated the subregion throughout the past two years, the Leaders praised IMT-GT for its country-led effort in mitigating the impact of COVID-19 and continue to spearhead the economic recovery. The Leaders conveyed their commitments to work towards achieving post-COVID recovery and further advancing IMT-GT cooperation. The Leaders also reiterated their commitments to continue support IMT-GT in moving towards its vision to become an integrated, innovative, inclusive, and sustainable subregion. The Leaders then agreed to adopt the Joint Leaders Statement for the 13th IMT-GT Summit.
