ECONOMIC FORUM: IGNITE THAILAND IN KUALA LUMPUR, ENHANCING THAILAND-MALAYSIA CROSS BORDER CONNECTIVITY THROUGH PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP

The Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) was honored to participate in the “IGNITE THAILAND in Kuala Lumpur: Enhancing Thailand-Malaysia Cross Border Connectivity Through Public-Private Partnership” event held in Kuala Lumpur on 1 July 2024. The event was organized by the Royal Thai Embassy, Kuala Lumpur and attended by key government officials, academicians and private sector representatives from both countries.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks from H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, followed by opening remarks from the Honourable Dr. Mohd Shaharin bin Umar, Director of Regional Development Division representing YBhg. Dato’ Nor Azmie bin Diron, Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy, Malaysia. During the forum, Director of CIMT also had the privilege of moderating Panel Session 2 on Thailand-Malaysia Halal Industry Development and Cooperation which discussed concrete steps in further enhancing the halal sector in both countries. The IGNITE Thailand in Kuala Lumpur event underscored the important role of cross-country collaboration in fostering regional economic growth and connectivity which is in line with the goals and aspiration of IMT-GT in advancing development in the subregion.
