The Asian Development Bank (ADB) hosted a Green Cities Conference with the support of Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) and have gathered almost over 200 participants from over eleven countries, including senior representatives of provinces and cities, to witness stimulating exchanges between speakers and the audience on various subjects related to green growth.
In that event, it was discovered that the Government of India, Ministry of Power have shown that over 25, 00, 00, 000 LEDs distributed by Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL) under the flagship of UJALA have distributed across the nation that have resulted on:
• Annual energy savings have reduced from 42.95 Billion kWh to 32.46 Billion kWh. The reduction have also indicated that 32.46 kWh Billion is sufficient to light up 6.4 million Indian homes for an entire year
• Annual cost savings worth of $ 2 Billion
• Peak demand reduction of 6,500 MW and that is equivalent to constructing six 1,000 MW capacity thermal power plants with investments of $ 6.06 billion and
• 26 Million t CO2 worth of Annual Emission Reduction which is equivalent to growing 612 million trees for 10 years!
We presume, that all undertakings with relevance to energy will not be underestimated for its importance and benefits are robust!
