Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand on Expansion of Air Linkages in Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle.
On 9 November 2018 the Minister of Transport of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Expansion of Air Linkages in IMT-GT at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The signing ceremony was held back-to-back with 24th ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting.
Mr Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Transport Thailand expressed the commitment by the Ministers of Transport of IMT-GT supports the revision and the signing of the MoU. The protocol aims to expand the connectivity in the subregion and to enhance the economics of the secondary cities in the IMT-GT areas and also energising the tourism industry. The signing of the MoU is part of the action taken by the IMT-GT Working Group on Transport and ICT Connectivity in supporting the Working Group on Tourism to improve connectivity between key areas of the subregion to support thematic cross-border tourism circuits and routes.
The signing marks as the milestone to show the intention by the Ministry of Transport in IMT-GT to work and cooperate with air transport linkages in the subregion. The Ministers look forward to seeing new opportunities through seamless connectivity for the prosperity of IMT-GT.
