On 4th April 2022, the Centre for Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) successfully conducted the 15th IMT-GT Strategic Planning Meeting (SPM) Breakout Session of Working Group on Halal Products and Services (WGHAPAS).
The breakout session of WGHAPAS was chaired by Assist. Prof. Nifarid Raden Ahmad, Deputy Director of the Halal Science Center from the Chulalongkorn University of Thailand, with the attendance by the Head of Delegation of Indonesia, Fertiana Santy, Ph.D., Coordinator of Halal Product Assurance Cooperation of the Halal Product on Assurance Agency (BPJPH) from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia, and the Head of Delegation of Malaysia, Mr. Abdul Aziz Mohamad Sharkawi, Senior Principal Assistant Director from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia, together with Mr. Firdaus Dahlan, Director of CIMT, and Ms. Wariya Pisuchpen, Deputy Director of CIMT.
As the first meeting to set workplan under the new IB for 2022-2026 implementation, at this meeting, WGHAPAS updated each country’s existing and indentified projects/programmes to be included in the working group’s portfolio. All projects/programmes which have been identified and aligned with the WGHAPAS Strategic Frameworkwill be implemented under the IB 2022-2026. The Director of CIMT encouraged the working group to explore cooperation with Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) under the Reverse Linkage programmes.
