30 July 2026, Medan — The 5th IMT-GT University Network (UNINET) Council Meeting brought together member universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand for strategic dialogue to strengthen regional academic collaboration. The Meeting was chaired by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, and hosted by Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in Medan, Indonesia.
Delegates reviewed the achievements of the UNINET Strategic Action Plan (USAP) 2022–2026, which delivered more than 40 flagship initiatives across eight thematic areas and discussed the development of USAP 2027–2031 to guide the next phase of collaboration. The Meeting also endorsed the appointment of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) as UNINET’s Permanent Secretariat. Delegates further reaffirmed UNINET’s role as IMT-GT’s key knowledge and innovation platform in advancing subregional development through higher education, research and innovation.
