22 April 2026, Bangkok — The Director of the Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) participated in a Side Event: ‘Policy Dialogue on Advancing Cross-Regional Collaboration on Digital Innovation’ which was held during the 82nd Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The Dialogue brought together subregional perspectives on how digital innovation can drive more inclusive and sustainable development across Asia and the Pacific, while addressing key challenges such as infrastructure and skills gap. Discussions highlighted the importance of cross-regional collaboration in ensuring that digital transformation benefits all segments of society — from youth to ageing populations — and contributes meaningfully to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Director of CIMT also attended a working lunch hosted by the Executive Secretary of ESCAP, Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana which was attended by representatives from the various subregional groups. The lunch event underscored the importance of sustained collaboration across subregions and highlighted the need for a more structured mechanism to ensure progress.
CIMT’s participation reaffirmed the value of engagement between the different subregions in advancing practical, people-centred approaches to development across Asia and the Pacific.
