On 20 July 2023, Mr. Firdaus Dahlan, Director of the Centre for Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Subregional Cooperation (CIMT), paid a courtesy visit to Pekanbaru Municipality which was received by the Regional Secretary, Indra Pomi Nasution, ST. MSi on behalf of the Mayor.
During the visit, Mr. Firdaus Dahlan updated the Regional Secretary on the upcoming Green City Mayor Council meeting to be held in Ipoh-Malaysia on 7 – 9 August 2023. As the current Vice-Chairman of GCMC, Pekanbaru looked forward to meeting the invitation which was extended by Mayor of Ipoh. The Regional Secretary also shared the success stories of several green projects supported by IMT-GT development partner, such as the Integrated Green Urban Transport Plan (IGUTP). They mentioned how IMT-GT Cooperation has brought numerous benefits to the local government through its working groups and expressed a strong interest in collaborating further with IMT-GT via the IMT Transboundary Pilot (Urban-Act) Project. Therefore, a new focal point will be established within the city municipality to accelerate the cooperation between Pekanbaru and IMT-GT.
