Key destinations include Sabang Bay, Pulau Weh, Rubiah Marine Park, Iboih Beach, Gapang Beach, and the historic Sophie Rickmers shipwreck, all offering excellent diving and marine experiences. Further south, Nias and Sibolga in North Sumatra present long-term potential as emerging yacht and cruise destinations.
Malaysia
Malaysia’s yacht and cruise tourism is primarily centred in the northern Peninsular region. Langkawi Island serves as a major hub, supported by facilities such as Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, Telaga Harbour Marina, and Rebak Marina. Surrounding attractions include Pulau Payar Marine Park, Dayang Bunting Island, and Beras Basah Island. Penang Island, with the Georgetown Cruise Port, further strengthens Malaysia’s position as a key stop for regional cruise itineraries.
Thailand
Thailand’s yacht and cruise tourism is concentrated along the southern Andaman coast. Phuket acts as the main gateway, with access to renowned destinations such as the Phi Phi Islands, Racha and Racha Noi Islands, Phang Nga Bay, James Bond Island, Similan Islands, and Surin Islands. Nearby destinations including Krabi and Ao Nang complement the region’s appeal with dramatic limestone coastlines and well-developed marina facilities.
