ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK’S COURTESY VISIT TO CIMT IN PUTRAJAYA

On the 17th of January of 2024, Ms. Duangruetai Surasakjinda, the Deputy Director/Acting Director of CIMT warmly received a courtesy call from Mr. Alfredo Perdiguero, the Regional Head of Regional Cooperation and Integration Unit Southeast Asia Department of Asian Development Bank (ADB). Mr. Alfredo Perdiguero was accompanied by Mr. Antonio Ressano-Garcia and Mr. Gary Krishnan while Ms. Duangruetai was joined by Mr. Muhammad Adi Rahman. 

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ongoing and future collaboration in various areas, including environment, tourism, waste management, and the Green Cities Action Plan (GCAP). The GCAP partnerships span across 14 Malaysian cities, 10 of which are in the IMT-GT region. The dialogue also touched upon an investment forum scheduled for October 2024 and the development of BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT Blue Economy Strategy.

CIMT has expressed an interest in aligning its initiatives with ADB, particularly in relation to an ongoing collaboration with UNESCAP on transboundary projects 6 IMT-GT cities. CIMT also suggested ADB to continue facilitating coordination meetings among the secretariats in ASEAN and the ASEAN Sub-region including the ASEAN Secretariat, BIMP-EAGA FC and GMS Secretariat.
