18–19 June 2026, Medan — The 6th IMT-GT Working Group Meeting on Environment (WGE) and related meetings were held in Medan, Indonesia and online, bringing together representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand to review progress, as well as development partners to discuss environmental priorities and cooperation for the subregion in the next five years.
During the IMT-GT Implementation Blueprint (IB) 2027–2031 Consultation Workshop for the Environment sector, Member Countries reviewed lessons and achievements from the IB 2022–2026, and exchanged views on strategic priorities for the next implementation cycle.
Participants also joined a site visit to PT. Sumatera Deli Lestari Indah (SDLI) to observe its Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), an IMT-GT flagship project that demonstrates circular economy practices and highlights opportunities for strengthening waste management cooperation across the IMT-GT subregion.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Member Countries to deepen environmental cooperation and contribute towards a more resilient and sustainable IMT-GT subregion.
