28 September 2026, Serdang — The IMT-GT International Halal Trade Roundtable 2026, themed “Bridging Science, Shariah, Regulation and Industry on Alcohol in Food and Beverages,” was held at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
Organised by the School of Business and Economics (SBE) and Halal Products Research Institute (IPPH), UPM, in collaboration with the IMT-GT University Network (UNINET), the Roundtable brought together experts and stakeholders from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand to examine key issues affecting halal certification and cross-border trade.
Discussions brought together perspectives from shariah, science, regulation, standards, and industry, with a focus on strengthening mutual understanding and identifying practical recommendations towards greater regional harmonisation.
The Roundtable contributes to ongoing IMT-GT efforts to strengthen knowledge exchanges, halal governance and trade facilitation across the subregion.
