Monday, May 31, 2021. The working group on Tourism had a meeting on IMT-GT Geopark collaboration project meeting was conducted in a virtual. The meeting was chaired by Mr Boonserm Khun Kaew, Deputy Director-General, Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand.  The Malaysian delegation was led by Ms Jellialive Ami, Principal Assistance Director, Malaysia Ministry Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia. The Indonesia delegation was led by Mr. Iman Sentosa, Director of International Relations, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Indonesia. The meeting was attended by Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), Satun UNESCO Global Geopark Organization Management, Toba Caldera Geopark Management Board and Centre for IMT-GT subregional Cooperation (CIMT).

The meeting objective is finalising the draft of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark, Satun UNESCO Global Geopark and Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark (IMT – GT Geopark Collaboration in IMT – GT Region). The MOU is aimed at promoting international cooperation and exchanging experiences of the three countries based on respect for the independence and equality of the geoparks in each member countries. The MOU signing is expected during The 27th IMT – GT Ministerial Meeting ( 27th IMT – GT MM) plan will take place from late July to August 2021.
