UNLOCKING HALAL TOURISM IN THAILAND: EXPLORING THE HALAL ROUTE APP

In a series of events at the Thailand Halal Assembly 2024, the Halal Route Workshop was held in Bangkok on December 19, 2024. As part of the initiative by the Working Group on Halal Products and Services, this program aims to enhance halal tourism across the IMT-GT subregion, connecting key destinations and promoting the unique cultural heritage of IMT-GT member countries.

Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan and Assist. Prof. Dr. Paradorn Sureepong from the Halal Science Center (HSC) at Chulalongkorn University, the session focused on the transformative impact of Halal Route app. The HSC has developed this innovative app to revolutionize the travel experience for Muslim tourists, offering detailed guides to halal-friendly experiences in Thailand. This app help travelers find mosques, halal restaurants, and Muslim-friendly hotels and attractions, ensuring a seamless journey with all necessary information at hand.

Deputy Director of CIMT, Mr. Muhammad Hafiz Hannibal, delivered the welcoming remarks, highlighting that the Halal Route Programme will not only contribute to developing the halal tourism ecosystem but also support broader economic growth for the region. The Halal Route Programme has the potential to become a catalyst for regional collaboration, enhancing halal tourism, and driving economic growth within the IMT-GT subregion.
