On 16 January 2025, Mr. Amri Bukhairi Bakhtiar, Director of CIMT, joined industry leaders and policymakers at the IMT-GT Rubber Cities and Rubber Industry Cooperation: Fostering EUDR Compliance for Sustainability in the Rubber Industry Workshop at the historic Bangunan Getah Asli in Kuala Lumpur.
The workshop began with opening remarks by Mr. Hasri A Hasan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of NCIA and Chairman of the PIT IMT-GT Rubber Cities and Rubber Industry Cooperation; Mr. Amri Bukhairi Bakhtiar, Director of CIMT; and Dr. Mok Kok Lang, Deputy Director General of the Malaysian Rubber Board.
Throughout the event, participants discussed critical topics such as EUDR compliance, transparency, traceability, improving smallholders’ capacity and responsible production in the rubber industry. The private sector shared valuable experiences on meeting regulatory demands while maintaining competitiveness. The day concluded with closing remarks from the NCIA Chief Executive, Hon. Mr. Mohamad Haris Kader Sultan, reinforcing the importance of joint efforts in elevating the standards of the rubber industry.
Notably, the Project Implementation Team (PIT) IMT-GT Rubber Cities and Rubber Industry Cooperation issued a joint statement which emphasised on their commitment
to enhance sustainability practices in the rubber industry.
This milestone event highlights the collective commitment of IMT-GT member countries in advancing the sustainability agenda in the rubber industry.
