8 August 2025 — The 18th IMT-GT Working Group on Agriculture and Agro-based Industry (WGAA) Meeting was held  in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together representatives from CIMT, the Joint Business Council (JBC), the University Network (UNINET), and the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanisation (CSAM) of UNESCAP.

The meeting reviewed progress and challenges in implementing WGAA projects under the IMT-GT Implementation Blueprint (IB) 2022–2026, aligning them with ASEAN priorities and the subregion’s vision for sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture. Discussions highlighted updates on ongoing and new initiatives, preparation for high-level IMT-GT meetings, and the outcomes of the Dialogue on Sustainable Palm Oil Supply Chain.

Key outcomes included agreements to finalise the MoU on Palm Oil Cooperation, strengthen partnerships for research and technology, update performance indicators, and develop new project concept notes. These actions will reinforce subregional agricultural cooperation, enhance food security, and drive inclusive growth for farming communities across Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
