4 August 2026, Satun — The 3rd IMT-GT Tourism and Transport Dialogue convened policymakers, tourism and transport authorities, and industry representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand to strengthen collaboration between the tourism and transport sectors.
Held under the theme “Connecting IMT-GT Geoparks and Coastal Destinations: Advancing Sustainable Maritime Connectivity,” the Dialogue explored how enhanced connectivity can unlock the full potential of sustainable cross-border tourism.
Discussions focused on strengthening maritime connectivity to better link IMT-GT’s UNESCO Global Geoparks, islands, and coastal destinations while supporting sustainable tourism development across the subregion. Participants underscored the importance of closer collaboration between the tourism and transport sectors, seamless cross-border connectivity, and integrated tourism routes to support IMT-GT’s transition towards high-value, high-quality tourism and its vision of becoming a Single Tourism Destination.
The Dialogue reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening regional partnerships and advancing practical actions that will enhance connectivity, improve visitor experiences, and foster a more connected, inclusive, and sustainable tourism future for the IMT-GT subregion.
