The 31st IMT-GT Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) was successfully held on 10 September 2024 in Johor, Malaysia. The Chairpersons of each IMT-GT Working Group, along with the Joint Business Council (JBC), and University Network (UNINET) provided updates on their respective projects, highlighting progress and achievements. The Senior Officials also offered guidance to accelerate the implementation of the strategic framework for each Working Group under the IMT-GT Implementation Blueprint (IB) 2022-2026.

The Meeting was chaired by Hon. Datuk Dr. Zunika binti Mohamed, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Economy of Malaysia. Attendees included Hon. Mrs. Netty Muharni, Assistant Deputy Minister for Regional and Subregional Economic Cooperation, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and Hon. Dr. Thuttai Keeratipongpaiboon, Director of the International Strategy and Coordination Division of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) of the Kingdom of Thailand. Also in attendance were Mr. Alfredo Perdiguero, Regional Head of the Regional Cooperation and Integration Unit of the Southeast Asia Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Mrs. Sumitra Jayaseelan, Head of the Integration & Narrowing Development Gap Division at the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC).
