IMT-GT STATISTIC
The Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) is a subregional initiative that aims to accelerate “Economic Transformation” in less developed areas in these countries towards a seamless, progressive, prosperous, and peaceful subregion with improved quality of life.
The IMT-GT comprises of 10 provinces of Sumatra, Indonesia (Indonesia-GT); 8 states in Peninsular Malaysia (Malaysia-GT); and 14 provinces in the southern region of Thailand (Thailand-GT). It is home to about 84 million people inhabiting land areas of about 615,205 square kilometers. Population density of IMT-GT has increased from 118 persons per square kilometer in 2008 to 137 persons per square kilometer in 2018.
Indonesia-GT: consist of Aceh, North Sumatera, West Suamtera, Riau, Riau Island, Jambi, Bengkulu, South Sumatera, Bangka Belitung, and Lampung (10 out of 34 provinces)
Malaysia-GT: comprises Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Perlis, Pulau Pinang, and Selangor. (8 out of 16 states)
Thailand-GT: includes Chumphon, Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phang Nga, Phattalung, Phuket, Ranong, Satun, Songkhla, Surat Thani, Trang, and Yala. (14 out of 77 provinces)
IMT refers to the whole territory of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand.
GDP refers to Gross Domestic Product

The IMT-GT covers a land area of 615.2 thousand square kilometers which accounted for 22.3% of IMT in 2018
ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE TRADE IN GOODS
The IMT-GT trade in goods recorded at US$ 383 billion and contributed about 28.6% from IMT in 2018
POPULATION
In 2018, the IMT-GT has a combined population of 84.1 million that is equivalent to 23% of IMT's population. The IMT-GT is a sparsely populated area with a population density of mere 137 persons per square kilometer. While for labour force, the IMT-GT accounted for 22.4% of IMT's labour force
GDP AT CURRENT PRICES
In 2018, the IMT-GT GDP at current prices registered at US$ 436.8 billion and accounted for 22.9% of IMT. The GDP rate at current PPP$ recorded at PPP$ 1.2 trillion.
